Laura began her career in this industry as an appraiser assistant in 2001, progressing to an appraiser trainee the following year, resulting in obtaining licensure with the Virginia Real Estate Appraiser Board in 2006. Additional education and training allowed for upgrading the license to a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser in 2007. Laura has since retained certification, performing residential valuation services throughout Northern Virginia.

What does the appraiser interior/exterior viewing involve?
The appraiser will view all rooms documenting the utility of the dwelling ( number of bedrooms, baths, etc.) and noting features, finishes and amenities including, fireplaces, garage, deck, patio, porch, shed, etc. In addition, photographs will be taken of each room, and measurements of the improvements. HOA/Condo association information such as contact, community amenities and fees will be need to provided, as well as a copy of the plat or house location survey, if available. In addition, a list of updates/upgrades to the improvements is also helpful.
How long should I plan for the appraiser's visit?
Typical viewing time is for most appraisers is approximately 45 minutes for single family residential properties. This will vary depending upon the size of the dwelling, the quality, condition and features. Upon scheduling the appointment, the appraiser should advise how much time to allow for the appraiser to gather all data necessary.
